The neighbourhood

Freshwater, eventually.

St Alma eventually found its home at 20 Albert Street, in the old Bendigo Bank building. It wasn’t where we’d originally planned to open all those years ago, but looking back, we’re glad that first lease fell through. We couldn’t imagine a better home for St Alma.

St Alma opened in 2022, with a dining room that gets a bit louder as the night goes on. It’s not a copy of Avalon, and we didn’t want it to be.

The counter

Pull up a stool, order a margarita.

Our favourite seat in the house, with tequila and mezcal behind it and the whole menu in front.

Ask, and whoever’s pouring will find you something new to try.

Shared plates, long dinners.

It’s a menu made for sharing, so order a few plates and pass them around.

A Friday lunch can turn into Friday dinner. Let the kitchen look after the pace.
